The initial shock of being diagnosed with breast cancer, followed by a whirlwind of tests and being faced with various treatment options can be scary and confusing. Going through western medical treatment – whether surgery, radiation, hormonal and/or chemotherapy – is also hard on the body as it can diminish our immune system, deplete red and white blood cells as well as platelets, and produce various side effects, such as nausea and fatigue. Restoring and maintaining health long-term is a life-long struggle that often requires difficult life-style changes. And facing the inevitable end of life requires both courage and calm.
As a survivor of metastatic breast cancer, Hyun Lee decided to use her personal experience with the disease as well as her knowledge of eastern medicine to support other breast cancer patients at various stages of their illness. She uses a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, and Chinese herbs to support breast cancer patients as they go through western treatment and to help them rebuild and maintain long-term health.
The combination of acupuncture, moxibustion and/or Chinese herbs can be effective in the treatment of side effects, such as nausea, hot flashes, neuropathy, G/I problems, dry mouth, pain, and fatigue, caused by radiation and/or chemotherapy. It can help to minimize bone marrow damage and maintain red and white blood cell as well as platelet counts during radiation and chemotherapy. It is also effective in maintaining liver health, managing chronic pain, and strengthening the immune system for patients recovering from surgery or chemotherapy.
